T. Rex button set

11 February 2011

Store date: 8 November 2005

This punkish five-button set was used to promote the reissue of four T.Rex albums on CD on 8 November 2005. The button with the picture on it is using the cover image from T.Rex’s The Slider. Rhino Records always knew (and still knows, I presume) how to make any old album seem brand-new again.

For the record, the four T.Rex albums that were cleaned up for re-release that day were The Slider (1972), Zinc Alloy and the Hidden Riders of Tomorrow (1974), Dandy in the Underworld (1977), and a collection entitled The T. Rex Wax Co. Singles A’s and B’s 1972-77. All four titles appear to have dwindled to out-of-print status, though some new copies of Dandy and Wax Co. Singles were apparently stockpiled by independent merchants and are currently selling via amazon.com’s marketplace.

It’s things like this that will be missed if music goes all to “the cloud”.
