Johnny Cash “Hey Porter” promo 45

13 February 2012

Store date: June 2005

Another promo vinyl 45 RPM single. I’ve got a little pile of them sitting right here next to me on this (wooden) desktop.

This little beauty was issued to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Johnny’s recording career. I assume that this means his recording career entire, as side A of this 45 has a Sun Records label, while side B is stickered with the Columbia Records logo.

There are all kinds of promo opportunities that have been taken advantage of on the back of the sleeve: Johnny’s recording career anniversary; the imminent release of his The Legend boxed set; the release of June Carter Cash’s retrospective CD; the upcoming film bio Walk the Line; etc.

We had a box full of these and gave them out to purchasers of any Johnny Cash-related product, and that included CDs by Roseanne, Rodney Crowell, Bob Dylan, Nick Lowe. You get the picture.

Do you want this item? I don’t have a need to keep these, and I have two. Just e-mail me at spitballarmy (at) aol (dot) com. We can work something out.
